1. Mounting and Slide Fit on the CSX

The CSX E-Series is built for deep concealment, meaning any optic you mount needs to maintain that narrow, snag-free footprint. The HHC17G mounts natively to the RMSc cut on the slide without any awkward overhang.

One detail I really appreciate is the integrated rear sight notch on the back of the optic housing. Because the deck height sits just a hair taller than some premium micro-dots, this built-in notch acts as an emergency backup aiming point that aligns nicely with the factory front post.

2. The 3 MOA Green Dot Experience

I’ve always preferred green reticles over red for EDC, since I have an astigmatism, and the HHC17G doesn’t let me down. Our eyes naturally pick up green light much easier in high-stress, bright daylight conditions. The 3 MOA dot is crisp—no starbursting or heavy distortion through the multi-coated glass window.

I’m happy to report that after 600+ rounds of varied 115gr and 124gr ammunition, the HHC17G hasn’t budged. 4. Living with Shake Awake and Everyday Carry Ergos

A quick tip from my personal experience: Since I appendix carry, the sensor detects my movement, meaning the dot is essentially “on” during my entire daily routine. Keep this in mind for your battery swap schedule (I swap batteries every year on my birthday). Thankfully, GOWUTAR added a side-loading battery tray for the CR1632 cell. When the battery eventually dies, I can swap it without unmounting the optic and losing my zero.

What I Love:

What I don’t care for:

• Battery Screw: The tiny screw holding the battery tray in place is completely loose when backed out. Be incredibly careful not to drop it in the grass or carpet during a swap.
• Slightly Tall Deck: It sits just high enough that true absolute co-witnessing with stock irons requires a tight sight picture, though the integrated notch helps bridge the gap. Especially a concern when mounted on the CSX, because you lose the rear irons when running an optic.

My Verdict: Is it EDC Ready?

If you own a Smith & Wesson CSX or a similar micro-compact and want an affordable entry point into the optic world, the Gowutar HHC17G is a remarkably solid choice. It survived 600+ rounds of snappy recoil, held zero, and it gave me the quick target acquisition for peace of mind when drawing. It might not have the name-brand prestige of a $400 optic, but for an everyday defensive tool, I highly recommend it.
